ABOUT HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnotherapy is a form of deep relaxation (otherwise known as a trance state).  Hypnotherapy uses guided visualisation and is a supportive therapy that helps address anxieties and worries about certain aspects of our lives. Our minds are unbelievably powerful but we tend to access only a very small amount of our minds.  Sometimes we find that beliefs and emotions in our unconscious minds can actually stand in the way of what we want to achieve. Hypnotherapy can help you adopt helpful new beliefs with positive suggestions and let go of some thoughts and emotions which are holding you back.

My fully accredited, intensive clinical hypnotherapy training was undertaken with Dr Claire Jack founder of the Academy of the Inner Mind. I am a qualified Fertile Body Method Practitioner, a course focused on the mind-body approaches to fertility, developed by clinical hypnotherapist and fertility specialist Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer. I have  completed practitioner training courses in HypnoMenopause™ and Pain Rewired.

My main areas of work are focused on my specialities; fertility, menopause, mindfulness, anxiety and pain for menstrual and hormonal related issues.

Hypnotherapy can be a really effective alternative therapy to support you during hormonal changes, during fertility treatment or when you have come to the end of your fertility journey. It can also be an effective tool for pain, anxiety and mindfulness to help overcome challenges. The areas that I work in are listed in Hypnotherapy Services.

Clinical Hypnotherapy

What to expect from my therapy sessions

  • At the start of our work together, you’ll have the opportunity to share what you would like to achieve, allowing each clinical hypnotherapy session to be tailored to your individual needs and wellbeing goals. Using a combination of gentle yet effective techniques such as guided visualisation, positive suggestion, relaxation, mindfulness and where appropriate, elements of CBT, we work with the unconscious mind to support meaningful and lasting change.

Online hypnotherapy sessions are always delivered at a pace that feels comfortable and right for you, ensuring you feel safe, supported and fully in control throughout the process.

  • No, clinical hypnotherapy is not mind control and is very different from stage hypnosis. You remain fully aware and in control throughout the session and will only say or do what feels comfortable to you. Hypnotherapy is a collaborative and supportive process designed to help you feel calmer, more relaxed and more open to positive change.

  • The vast majority of people are able to enter a state of hypnosis that is right for them. Even a light level of hypnosis can support meaningful therapeutic change. Many people have already experienced similar natural states of focused relaxation — such as becoming deeply absorbed in a book or film, meditating, or being fully immersed in something creative.

  • Like any therapeutic approach, hypnotherapy cannot offer guaranteed results. However, it is a well-established and effective method, used by a range of professionals including psychologists, psychiatrists, and trained hypnotherapists. The most important factor is your willingness and readiness to create positive change. When you are open to that process, hypnotherapy can become a supportive part of your journey.

  • Initially, we will have a conversation to explore what you would like support with and whether clinical hypnotherapy is the right approach for you. If you feel comfortable working with me, we will arrange your online hypnotherapy session via Zoom.

During the session, we will discuss your goals and wellbeing needs in more depth before I gently guide you into a relaxed state of hypnosis using my voice. Sessions are personalised and may include techniques such as guided relaxation, visualisation, positive suggestion and mindset support to help shift unhelpful thought patterns and support positive change.

  • The number of hypnotherapy sessions required will depend on the issue you are seeking support with, your goals and your individual needs. During your initial consultation, I will provide a clear and personalised recommendation to help you understand the level of support that may be most beneficial for you.
